On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, the Development and Partnership in Action (DPA) and the steering committee members of the Extractive Industry Social and Environmental Impact (EISEI) network hosted the 46th EISEI Network Meeting at the Daikonia Center in Phnom Penh. The meeting aimed to raise awareness among network members about three key topics: (1) the final draft circular of open pit mining for safety and health and influencing and communication strategies, (2) group discussion to concrete the activity plan to monitor and find appropriate solution for environmental and social impacts from exploration and exploitation activities, and (3) and explore and gain insights from presentations focusing on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
The esteemed guests who attended the meeting included HONG Bona, the Director Department of Mineral Operational Inspection Ministry of Mines and Energy, and Mr. Phon Yut Sakara, the Fair Finance Cambodia Coordinator of Oxfam Organization, as well as members of the network, donors, development partners, and community representatives, totaling 45 participants (16 female and 29 male), were also present.
